Musnad Imam Ahmad Bin Hanble

حَدَّثَنَا حُجَيْنٌ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ الْهَاشِمِيِّ عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَهُ

It was narrated from 'Ali bin Abi Talib that when the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) started to pray, he would say takbeer, then say: "I have turned my face in submission to the One Who originated the heavens and the earth, as a monotheist and I am not one of the mushrikeen . Verily, my Salah (prayer), my sacrifice, my living, and my dying are for Allah, the Lord of the 'Alameen (mankind, jinn and all that exists). He has no partner. And of this I have been commanded, and i am the first of the Muslims. O Allah, You are the Sovereign, there is no god but You. You are my Lord and i am Your slave. I have wronged myself and I admit my sin, so forgive me all my sins, for no one can forgive sins except You. O Allah, guide me to the best of conduct, for none can guide to that except You; divert from me the worst of conduct, for none can divert it except You. Here I am at Your service, all goodness is in Your hand and evil cannot be attributed to You. My existence is due to You and my return is to You. Blessed and exalted are You, I seek Your forgiveness and I repent to You." When he bowed, he said: "O Allah, to You I have bowed, in You I have believed and to You i have submitted. My hearing, my sight, my brain, my bones and my sinews submit to You." When he rose from bowing he said: "Allah hears the one who praises Him. O Allah our Lord, to You be praise, filling the heavens, filling the earth, filling that which is between them and filling whatever else You will besides." When he prostrated he said: "O Allah, to You I have prostrated, in You I have believed and to You I have submitted. My face has prostrated to the One Who created it and gave it shape and gave it the best of shapes, and opened its hearing and sight.Blessed be Allah, the Best of , , creators." When he had finished praying he said: "O Allah, forgive me my past and future sins, what I have done in secret and what I have done openly, what I have transgressed and what You know more than I. You are the One who brings forward and the One Who puts back, there is no god but You." Abdullah said: We heard from Ishaq bin Rahawaih, from an-Nadr bin Shumail, that he said concerning this hadeeth, instead of, "evil cannot be attributed to You," he said: Evil cannot be used to draw close to You.

عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ← عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ، ← الْأَعْرَجِ ← عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ الْهَاشِمِيِّ، ← عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ، ← حُجَيْنٌ

حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَخِي ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عَمِّهِ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ مَوْلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَزْهَرَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَحِلُّ لِامْرِئٍ مُسْلِمٍ أَنْ يُصْبِحَ فِي بَيْتِهِ بَعْدَ ثَلَاثٍ مِنْ لَحْمِ نُسُكِهِ شَيْءٌ

Abu 'Ubaid, the freed slave of 'Abdur-Rahman bin Azhar, narrated that he heard 'Ali bin Abi Talib (RA) say: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "It is not permissible for any Muslim man to have any meat left from his sacrifice after three days."

أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ مَوْلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَزْهَرَ ← عَمِّہٖ ← ابْنُ أَخِي ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، ← يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ،

حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَبِي الْعَبَّاسِ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْأَصَمُّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ السُّدِّيَّ إِسْمَاعِيلَ يَذْكُرُهُ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيِّ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ لَمَّا تُوُفِّيَ أَبُو طَالِبٍ أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْتُ إِنَّ عَمَّكَ الشَّيْخَ قَدْ مَاتَ قَالَ اذْهَبْ فَوَارِهِ ثُمَّ لَا تُحْدِثْ شَيْئًا حَتَّى تَأْتِيَنِي قَالَ فَوَارَيْتُهُ ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُهُ قَالَ اذْهَبْ فَاغْتَسِلْ ثُمَّ لَا تُحْدِثْ شَيْئًا حَتَّى تَأْتِيَنِي قَالَ فَاغْتَسَلْتُ ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُهُ قَالَ فَدَعَا لِي بِدَعَوَاتٍ مَا يَسُرُّنِي أَنَّ لِي بِهَا حُمْرَ النَّعَمِ وَسُودَهَا قَالَ وَكَانَ عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ إِذَا غَسَّلَ الْمَيِّتَ اغْتَسَلَ

It was narrated that 'Ali (RA) said: When Abu Talib died, i came to the Prophet (PBUH) and said: Your paternal uncle, the old man, has died. He said: "Go and bury him, then do not do anything until you come to me." So I went and buried him, then I came to him and he said: "Go and do ghusl, then do not do anything until you come to me." So I did ghusl , then I came to him and he offered du'a' for me, and I would not be happy if I had red and black camels instead of that. [The narrator] said: And 'Ali (RA) used to do ghusl when he had washed a deceased person.

عَلِيٍّ، ← أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيِّ ← السُّدِّيَّ إِسْمَاعِيلَ يَذْكُرُهُ ← الحسن بن يزيد الأصم ← إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَبِي الْعَبَّاسِ

ایک مرتبہ حضرت علی رضی اللہ عنہ نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئے اور انہیں خواجہ ابوطالب کی وفات کی خبردی، نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا جا کر انہیں کسی گڑھے میں چھپا دو اور میرے پاس آنے سے پہلے کوئی دوسرا کام نہ کرنا، چنانچہ جب میں انہیں کسی گڑھے میں اتار کر نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس واپس آیا تو مجھ سے فرمایا کہ جاکر غسل کرو اور میرے پاس آنے سے پہلے کوئی دوسرا کام نہ کرنا، چنانچہ میں غسل کر کے بارگاہ رسالت میں حاضر ہوا تو نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مجھے اتنی دعائیں دیں کہ مجھے ان کے بدلے سرخ یا سیاہ اونٹ ملنے پر اتنی خوشی نہ ہوتی، راوی کہتے ہیں کہ اس کے بعد حضرت علی رضی اللہ عنہ نے جب بھی کسی میت کو غسل دیا تو خود بھی غسل کر لیا۔

It was narrated from Ibraheem bin Hasan bin Hasan bin 'Ali bin Abi Talib (RA), from his father, that his grandfather said: 'Ali bin Abi Talib (RA) said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "At the end of time, there will appear people who are called ar-Rafidah because they reject (yarfudoona) Islam."

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زَحْرٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَ قَالَ عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ كُنْتُ آتِي النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَسْتَأْذِنُ فَإِنَّ كَانَ فِي صَلَاةٍ سَبَّحَ وَإِنْ كَانَ فِي غَيْرِ صَلَاةٍ أَذِنَ لِي

'Ali (RA) said: I used to go to the Prophet (PBUH) and ask permission to enter. If he was praying, he would say Subhan Allah, and if he was not praying, he would give me permission to enter.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْعَطَّارُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مَسْلَمَةُ الرَّازِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي عَمْرٍو الْبَجَلِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ سُفْيَانَ الثَّقَفِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ ابْنِ الْحَنَفِيَّةِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى يُحِبُّ الْعَبْدَ الْمُفَتَّنَ التَّوَّابَ

It was narrated from Muhammad Ibn al-Hanafiyyah that his father said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: “Allah loves the slave who falls into sin a great deal and repents a great deal."

أَبِيهِ ← مُحَمَّدِ ابْنِ الْحَنَفِيَّةِ ← أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ: ← عبد الملك بن سفيان الثقفي ← أَبِي عَمْرٍو الْبَجَلِيِّ، ← أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، مَسْلَمَةُ الرَّازِيُّ ← دَاوُدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْعَطَّارُ، ← عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، ← عَبْدُ اللَّهِ

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْوَرَكَانِيُّ أَنْبَأَنَا أَبُو شِهَابٍ الْحَنَّاطُ عَبْدُ رَبِّهِ بْنُ نَافِعٍ عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ بْنِ أَرْطَاةَ عَنْ أَبِي يَعْلَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ ابْنِ الْحَنَفِيَّةِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ لَمَّا أَعْيَانِي أَمْرُ الْمَذْيِ أَمَرْتُ الْمِقْدَادَ أَنْ يَسْأَلَ عَنْهُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ فِيهِ الْوُضُوءُ اسْتِحْيَاءً مِنْ أَجْلِ فَاطِمَةَ

It was narrated that 'Ali bin Abi Talib (RA) said: When the issue of madhi bothered me a great deal, I told al-Miqdad to ask the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) about it and he said: "Wudoo' is due for it." He felt shy [to ask about this matter] because of Fatimah.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ عَنْ الْمُتْعَةِ وَعَنْ لُحُومِ الْحُمُرِ

It was narrated from 'Ali (RA) that on the day of Khaibar, the Prophet ((PBUH) forbade mut’ah marriage and the flesh of donkeys.

عَلِيٍّ، ← عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ← الزُّهْرِيِّ، ← مَعْمَرٌ، ← حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ← مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ، ← عَبْدُ اللَّهِ

حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ زِرٍّ أَنَّ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قِيلَ لَهُ إِنَّ قَاتِلَ الزُّبَيْرِ عَلَى الْبَابِ فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ لَيَدْخُلَنَّ قَاتِلُ ابْنِ صَفِيَّةَ النَّارَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ حَوَارِيٌّ وَإِنَّ حَوَارِيِّي الزُّبَيْرَ بْنَ الْعَوَّامِ

It was narrated from Zirr that it was said to 'Ali (RA): The killer of az-Zubair is at the door. 'Ali said: The killer of the son of Safiyyah will certainly enter the Fire. I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) say: "Every Prophet has a disciple and my disciple is az-Zubair bin al-'Awwam."

زِرٍّ ← عَاصِمٍ، ← حماد يعني ابن سلمة ← يونس،

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ نَزَلَ قُدَيْدًا فَأُتِيَ بِالْحَجَلِ فِي الْجِفَانِ شَائِلَةً بِأَرْجُلِهَا فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَى عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَهُوَ يَضْفِزُ بَعِيرًا لَهُ فَجَاءَ وَالْخَبَطُ يَتَحَاتُّ مِنْ يَدَيْهِ فَأَمْسَكَ عَلِيٌّ وَأَمْسَكَ النَّاسُ فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ مَنْ هَا هُنَا مِنْ أَشْجَعَ هَلْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَاءَهُ أَعْرَابِيٌّ بِبَيْضَاتِ نَعَامٍ وَتَتْمِيرِ وَحْشٍ فَقَالَ أَطْعِمْهُنَّ أَهْلَكَ فَإِنَّا حُرُمٌ قَالُوا بَلَى فَتَوَرَّكَ عُثْمَانُ عَنْ سَرِيرِهِ وَنَزَلَ فَقَالَ خَبَّثْتَ عَلَيْنَا

It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin al-Harith bin Nawfal that 'Uthman bin 'Affan (RA) halted at Qudaid and a partridge was brought to him in a bowl with its legs uppermost. He sent word to 'Ali (RA), who was feeding a camel of his, and he came with the leaves dropping from his hands. 'Ali refrained from eating it and the people also refrained. 'Ali said: Who here is from Ashja'? Do you know that a Bedouin brought some ostrich eggs and the meat of an onager to the Prophet r (PBUH) and he said: "Feed them to your family, for we are in Hiram”? They said: Yes indeed. Then 'Uthman turned away from his seat and said: We cannot have it then.

عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ، ← عَلِيُّ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ← حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، ← عَفَّانُ

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ أَخْبَرَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُدْرِكٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا زُرْعَةَ بْنَ عَمْرِو بْنِ جَرِيرٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُجَيٍّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَا تَدْخُلُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ بَيْتًا فِيهِ كَلْبٌ وَلَا صُورَةٌ

It was narrated from 'Ali (RA), from the Prophet (PBUH), that he said: "The angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or an image."

عَلِيٍّ، ← أَبِيهِ ← عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُجَيٍّ ← أَبَا زُرْعَةَ بْنَ عَمْرِو بْنِ جَرِيرٍ، ← عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُدْرِكٍ ← شُعْبَةُ ← عَفَّانُ

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ سَمِعْتُ هُبَيْرَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَوْ نَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ خَاتَمِ الذَّهَبِ وَالْقَسِّيِّ وَالْمِيثَرَةِ

Abu Ishaq told us: I heard Hubairah say: I heard 'Ali (RA) say: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) forbade me to wear gold rings or garments made from a blend of linen and silk, or to use red saddle cloths.
