حَدَّثَنَا یَزِیدُ حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمٌ عَنْ اَبِی عُثْمَانَ النَّھْدِیْ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَابِ رَضِیَ اللہُ عَنْہُ اَنَّہُ قَالَ اتَّزِرُوا وَارْتَدُوا وَانْتِعِلُوا وَاَلْقُوا الْخِفَافَ وَالسَّرَاوِیلَاتِ وَاَلْقُوا الرُّکُبَ وَانْزُوا نَزَوًا وَعَلَیْکُمْ بِلْمَعَدَّیَّۃِ وَارْمُوا الْاَغْرَاضَ وَذَرُوا التَّنَعُّمَ وَزِیَّ الْعَجَمِ وَإِیَّاکُمْ وَالْحَرِیرَ فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللہِ صَلَّی اللہُ عَلَیْہِ وَسَلَّمَ فَدْ نَھَی عَنْہُ وَقَالَ لَا تَلْبَسُوا مِنْ الْحَرِیرِ إِلَّا مَاکَانَ ھَکَذَا وَأَشَارَ رَسُولَ اللہِ صَلَّی اللہُ عَلَیْہِ وَسَلَّمَ بِإِصْبَعَیْہ

It was narrated from 'Umar bin al-Khattab (RA) that he said: Wear izars and rida's and wear shoes, but take off boots and pants; throw away the stirrups and jump onto your mounts. You should wear rough clothes and practise archery, and keep away from luxury and the dress of the non- Arabs. Beware of silk, for the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) forbade it and said: "Do not wear silk except this much" - and the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) gestured with two fingers.

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَنْبَأَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ إِيَّاكُمْ أَنْ تَهْلِكُوا عَنْ آيَةِ الرَّجْمِ وَأَنْ يَقُولَ قَائِلٌ لَا نَجِدُ حَدَّيْنِ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى فَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجَمَ وَرَجَمْنَا بَعْدَهُ

It was narrated from Sa'eed bin al-Musayyab that 'Umar bin ai-Khattab (RA) said: Beware of overlooking the verse of stoning and (do not let) anyone say: 'We do not find two hadd punishments in the Book of Allah, for I saw the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) stone [adulterers] and we stoned [them] after he was gone.

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَنْبَأَنَا الْعَوَّامُ حَدَّثَنِي شَيْخٌ كَانَ مُرَابِطًا بِالسَّاحِلِ قَالَ لَقِيتُ أَبَا صَالِحٍ مَوْلَى عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَيْسَ مِنْ لَيْلَةٍ إِلَّا وَالْبَحْرُ يُشْرِفُ فِيهَا ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ يَسْتَأْذِنُ اللَّهَ فِي أَنْ يَنْفَضِخَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَيَكُفُّهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ

Al-'Awwam narrated: an old man who was guarding the coast told me: I met Abu Salih, the freed slave of 'Umar bin al-Khattab (RA) and he said: 'Umar bin al-Khattab (RA) told us that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "There is no night in which the sea does not approach the land three times and ask Allah for permission to flood it, but Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, restrains it."

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِابْنِ عُمَرَ حَدِّثْنِي عَنْ طَلَاقِكَ امْرَأَتَكَ قَالَ طَلَّقْتُهَا وَهِيَ حَائِضٌ قَالَ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِعُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَذَكَرَهُ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُرْهُ فَلْيُرَاجِعْهَا فَإِذَا طَهُرَتْ فَلْيُطَلِّقْهَا فِي طُهْرِهَا قَالَ قُلْتُ لَهُ هَلْ اعْتَدَدْتَ بِالَّتِي طَلَّقْتَهَا وَهِيَ حَائِضٌ قَالَ فَمَا لِي لَا أَعْتَدُّ بِهَا وَإِنْ كُنْتُ قَدْ عَجَزْتُ وَاسْتَحْمَقْتُ

It was narrated that Anas bin Seereen said: I asked Ibn 'Umar about his wife whom he divorced. He said: I divorced her when she was menstruating, and I told 'Umar about that, and he told the Prophet (PBUH), who said: "Tell him to take her back, then when she becomes pure, he may divorce her when she is pure” He said: So I took her back, then I divorced her when she was pure. I said: Was that divorce that you gave her when she was menstruating counted as such?" He said: Why wouldn't I count it? It must be counted even if I failed and acted foolishly.

فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِعُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ ← طَلَّقْتُهَا وَهِيَ حَائِضٌ ← طَلَاقِكَ امْرَأَتَكَ ← قُلْتُ لِابْنِ عُمَرَ: ← أَنَسِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ← عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ، ← يَزِيدُ:

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَنْبَأَنَا أَصْبَغُ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ الشَّامِيِّ قَالَ لَبِسَ أَبُو أُمَامَةَ ثَوْبًا جَدِيدًا فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ تَرْقُوَتَهُ قَالَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي كَسَانِي مَا أُوَارِي بِهِ عَوْرَتِي وَأَتَجَمَّلُ بِهِ فِي حَيَاتِي ثُمَّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ اسْتَجَدَّ ثَوْبًا فَلَبِسَهُ فَقَالَ حِينَ يَبْلُغُ تَرْقُوَتَهُ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي كَسَانِي مَا أُوَارِي بِهِ عَوْرَتِي وَأَتَجَمَّلُ بِهِ فِي حَيَاتِي ثُمَّ عَمَدَ إِلَى الثَّوْبِ الَّذِي أَخْلَقَ أَوْ قَالَ أَلْقَى فَتَصَدَّقَ بِهِ كَانَ فِي ذِمَّةِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى وَفِي جِوَارِ اللَّهِ وَفِي كَنَفِ اللَّهِ حَيًّا وَمَيِّتًا حَيًّا وَمَيِّتًا حَيًّا وَمَيِّتًا

It was narrated that Abul-'Ala' ash-Shami said: Abu Umamah put on a new garment, and when it reached his collarbone he said: Praise be to Allah Who has clothed me with that which conceals my 'awrah and with which I may beautify myself in my life. Then he said: I heard 'Umar bin al-Khattab (RA) say: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "Whoever gets a new garment, and puts it on and says, when it reaches his collarbone, 'Praise be to Allah Who has clothed me with that which conceals my 'nwrah and with which i may beautify myself in my life, then takes the garment that is worn out - or that he took off - and gives it in charity, will be in the care of Allah, may He be exalted, and under the protection of Allah in life and in death, in life and in death, in life and in death."

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَنْبَأَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَحَدُنَا إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنَامَ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ كَيْفَ يَصْنَعُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَغْتَسِلَ قَالَ يَتَوَضَّأُ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ ثُمَّ يَنَامُ

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that 'Umar bin al-Khattab (RA) said: I asked the Messenger of Allah (PBUH): O Messenger of Allah, if one of us wants to sleep before doing ghusl when he is junub, what should he do? He said: "Let him do wudoo' as for prayer, then sleep."

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَنْبَأَنَا وَرْقَاءُ وَأَبُو النَّضْرِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا وَرْقَاءُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى الثَّعْلَبِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى قَالَ كُنْتُ مَعَ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ وَعُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فِي الْبَقِيعِ يَنْظُرُ إِلَى الْهِلَالِ فَأَقْبَلَ رَاكِبٌ فَتَلَقَّاهُ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ مِنْ أَيْنَ جِئْتَ فَقَالَ مِنْ الْعَرَبِ قَالَ أَهْلَلْتَ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ إِنَّمَا يَكْفِي الْمُسْلِمِينَ الرَّجُلُ ثُمَّ قَامَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَتَوَضَّأَ فَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ ثُمَّ صَلَّى الْمَغْرِبَ ثُمَّ قَالَ هَكَذَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَنَعَ قَالَ أَبُو النَّضْرِ وَعَلَيْهِ جُبَّةٌ ضَيِّقَةُ الْكُمَّيْنِ فَأَخْرَجَ يَدَهُ مِنْ تَحْتِهَا وَمَسَحَ

It was narrated that 'Abdur- Rahman bin Abi Laila said: I was with al-Bara' bin 'Azib and 'Umar bin al-Khattab (RA) in al-Baqee', looking for the new moon, when a rider came and was met by 'Umar (RA), who said: Where have you come from? He said: From the Bedouins. He said: Have you sighted the moon? He said; Yes. 'Umar said: Allah Akbarl Verily one man's (testimony) is enough for the Muslims. Then 'Umar got up and did wudoo', and he wiped over his leather slippers, then he prayed Maghrib. Then he said: This is what I saw the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) do. Abun-Nadr said; He was wearing a jubbah with tight sleeves, and he brought his arm out from beneath it and wiped over his leather slippers.

حَدَّثَنَا یَزِیدُ أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِیرٌ أَخْبَرَنَا الزُّبَیْرُ بْنُ الْخِرْیتِ ، عَنْ أَبِیِ لَبِیدٍ قَالَ خَرَجَ رَجْلٌ مِنْ طَاحِیَۃَ مُھَاجِرَا ، یُقَالُ لَہُ بَیْرَحُ بْنُ أَسَدٍ ، فَقَدِمَ الْمَدِینَۃَ بَعْدَ وَفَاۃِ رَسُولِ اللہِ بِأَیَّامِ ، فَرَاَہُ عُمَرْ فَعَلِمَ أَنَّہُ غَرِیبُ ، فَقَالَ لَہُ مَنْ أَنْتَ ؟ قَالَ: مِنْ أَھْلِ عُمَانَ قَالَ : مِنْ أَھْلِ عُمَانُ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : فَأَخَذَ بِیَدِہِ فَأَدْخَلَہُ عَلَی أَبِیِ بَکْرِ ، فَقَالَ : ھَذَا مِنْ أَھْلِ الْأَرْضِ الَّتِیِ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللہِ ﷺ یَقُولُ : إِنِیِ لَاَعْلَمْ أَرْضًا یُقَالُ لَھَا : عُمَانُ ، یَنْضَحُ بِنَا حِیَتِھَا الْبَحْرُ ، بِھَا حَیُّ مِنَ الْعَرَبِ لَوْ أَتَاھُمْ رَسُولِیِ مَا رَمَوْہُ بِسَھْمٍ وَلَا حَجَرٍ۔

It was narrated that Abu Labeed said: A man called Bairah bin Asad went out from Tahiyah, migrating [hi} rah], and he reached Madinah a few days after the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) died. 'Umar (PBUH) saw him and realized he was a stranger, so he said to him: Who are you? Are you from Oman? He said: Yes. He took him by the hand and brought him to Abu Bakr (PBUH) and said: This man is from the land of which I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) saying: "I know a land called Oman at the edge of the sea; in it is a tribe of the Arabs who, if my envoy goes to them, they will not shoot arrows or throw stones at him."

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَنْبَأَنَا عَاصِمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ لَا أَعْلَمُهُ إِلَّا رَفَعَهُ قَالَ يَقُولُ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى مَنْ تَوَاضَعَ لِي هَكَذَا وَجَعَلَ يَزِيدُ بَاطِنَ كَفِّهِ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ وَأَدْنَاهَا إِلَى الْأَرْضِ رَفَعْتُهُ هَكَذَا وَجَعَلَ بَاطِنَ كَفِّهِ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ وَرَفَعَهَا نَحْوَ السَّمَاءِ

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that 'Umar (RA) and I think he attributed it to the Prophet (PBUH) said: "Allah, may He be blessed and exalted - says; 'Whoever humbles himself before Me like that'" - and he turned his palm down towards the ground like that, very close to the ground I will raise him in status like this'" - and he turned his palm up towards the heaven and raised his hand like that.

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَنْبَأَنَا دَيْلَمُ بْنُ غَزْوَانَ الْعَبْدِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا مَيْمُونٌ الْكُرْدِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ النَّهْدِيِّ قَالَ إِنِّي لَجَالِسٌ تَحْتَ مِنْبَرِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ النَّاسَ فَقَالَ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ أَخْوَفَ مَا أَخَافُ عَلَى هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ كُلُّ مُنَافِقٍ عَلِيمِ اللِّسَانِ

It was narrated that Abu 'Uthman an-Nahdi said: I was sitting beneath the minbar of 'Umar (RA) when he was addressing the people, and he said in his khutbalr. I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) say: "What i fear the most for this ummah is every knowledgeable hypocrite with a smooth tongue."

حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ أَخْبَرَنِي مَالِكٌ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ عَبْد اللَّهِ بْن أَحْمَد و حَدَّثَنَا مُصْعَبٌ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي أُنَيْسَةَ أَنَّ عَبْدَ الْحَمِيدِ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَخْبَرَهُ عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ سُئِلَ عَنْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ وَإِذْ أَخَذَ رَبُّكَ مِنْ بَنِي آدَمَ مِنْ ظُهُورِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّاتِهِمْ الْآيَةَ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُئِلَ عَنْهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ خَلَقَ آدَمَ ثُمَّ مَسَحَ ظَهْرَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ وَاسْتَخْرَجَ مِنْهُ ذُرِّيَّةً فَقَالَ خَلَقْتُ هَؤُلَاءِ لِلْجَنَّةِ وَبِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ يَعْمَلُونَ ثُمَّ مَسَحَ ظَهْرَهُ فَاسْتَخْرَجَ مِنْهُ ذُرِّيَّةً فَقَالَ خَلَقْتُ هَؤُلَاءِ لِلنَّارِ وَبِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ النَّارِ يَعْمَلُونَ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَفِيمَ الْعَمَلُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِذَا خَلَقَ الْعَبْدَ لِلْجَنَّةِ اسْتَعْمَلَهُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ حَتَّى يَمُوتَ عَلَى عَمَلٍ مِنْ أَعْمَالِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ فَيُدْخِلَهُ بِهِ الْجَنَّةَ وَإِذَا خَلَقَ الْعَبْدَ لِلنَّارِ اسْتَعْمَلَهُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ النَّارِ حَتَّى يَمُوتَ عَلَى عَمَلٍ مِنْ أَعْمَالِ أَهْلِ النَّارِ فَيُدْخِلَهُ بِهِ النَّارَ

It was narrated from Muslim bin Yasar al-Juhani that 'Umar bin al-Khattab was asked about this verse: "And (remember) when your Lord brought forth from the Children of Adam, from their loins" [al-A'raf 7:172]. 'Umar (RA) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) being asked about it and the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "Allah created Adam, then He passed His right hand over his loins and brought forth from him his offspring and said: I have created these for Paradise and they will do the deeds of the people of Paradise. Then He passed (His hand) over his loins and brought forth from him his offspring and said: I have created these for Hell and they will do the deeds of the people of Hell.” A man said: O Messenger of Allah, why then should we strive? The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "When Allah creates a person for Paradise, He causes him to do the deeds of the people of Paradise until he dies doing one of the deeds of the people of Paradise and is admitted to Paradise thereby. And when He creates a person for Hell, He causes him to do the deeds of the people of Hell until he dies doing one of the deeds of the people of Hell and is admitted to Hell thereby."

حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَعُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَائِمٌ يَخْطُبُ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَيَّةُ سَاعَةٍ هَذِهِ فَقَالَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ انْقَلَبْتُ مِنْ السُّوقِ فَسَمِعْتُ النِّدَاءَ فَمَا زِدْتُ عَلَى أَنْ تَوَضَّأْتُ فَأَقْبَلْتُ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ الْوُضُوءُ أَيْضًا وَقَدْ عَلِمْتَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَأْمُرُنَا بِالْغُسْلِ

lt was narrated from Salim bin 'Abdullah bin 'Umar (RA) from his father that one of the companions of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) entered the mosque one Friday when 'Umar bin al-Khattab was standing and addressing the people. 'Umar said: What time is this? He said: O Ameer al-Mu'mineen, I came back from the market and as soon as I heard the call to prayer, i did no more than zoudoo ' and came here. 'Umar said: Just zvudoo', when you know that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) used to enjoin us to do ghusJ?
