حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا الشَّيْبَانِيُّ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى عَلَى صَاحِبِ قَبْرٍ بَعْدَمَا دُفِنَ

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) offered the funeral prayer for the occupant of a grave after he was buried.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ أَبِي عُمَرَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ كَانَ يُنْقَعُ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الزَّبِيبُ قَالَ فَيَشْرَبُهُ الْيَوْمَ وَالْغَدَ وَبَعْدَ الْغَدِ إِلَى مَسَاءِ الثَّالِثَةِ ثُمَّ يُؤْمَرُ بِهِ فَيُسْقَى أَوْ يُهَرَاقُ

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: Raisins would be soaked for the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) and he would drink it for one day, then the next, then the next, until the evening of the third day. Then he would order that it be given to others to drink or be poured away.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَجْلَحُ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ الْأَصَمِّ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ سَمِعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجُلًا يَقُولُ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ وَشِئْتَ فَقَالَ بَلْ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) heard a man say. Whatever Allah wills and you will. He said: "Rather, what Allah alone wills."

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَجَّاجُ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ الْجَزَّارِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى فِي فَضَاءٍ لَيْسَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ شَيْءٌ

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) prayed in an open space with nothing in front of him.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَجَّاجُ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ مِقْسَمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ رَوَاحَةَ فِي سَرِيَّةٍ فَوَافَقَ ذَلِكَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ قَالَ فَقَدَّمَ أَصْحَابَهُ وَقَالَ أَتَخَلَّفُ فَأُصَلِّي مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْجُمُعَةَ ثُمَّ أَلْحَقُهُمْ قَالَ فَلَمَّا رَآهُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَنْ تَغْدُوَ مَعَ أَصْحَابِكَ قَالَ فَقَالَ أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أُصَلِّيَ مَعَكَ الْجُمُعَةَ ثُمَّ أَلْحَقَهُمْ قَالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَوْ أَنْفَقْتَ مَا فِي الْأَرْضِ مَا أَدْرَكْتَ غَدْوَتَهُمْ

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said; The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) sent 'Abdullah bin Rawahah on an expedition, and that happened to be a Friday. He sent his companions on ahead and said: I will stay behind and pray Jumu'ah with the Prophet(PBUH), then I will catch up with them. When the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) had prayed, he saw him and said: "What kept you from going out early with your companions?" He said: I wanted to pray Jumu'ah with you, then catch up with them. The Messenger of Allah said: "If you were to spend everything on earth (in charity) you would never be able to match the reward of their leaving in the morning."

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَجَّاجُ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ كَتَبَ نَجْدَةُ الْحَرُورِيُّ إِلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ يَسْأَلُهُ عَنْ قَتْلِ الصِّبْيَانِ وَعَنْ الْخُمُسِ لِمَنْ هُوَ وَعَنْ الصَّبِيِّ مَتَى يَنْقَطِعُ عَنْهُ الْيُتْمُ وَعَنْ النِّسَاءِ هَلْ كَانَ يَخْرُجُ بِهِنَّ أَوْ يَحْضُرْنَ الْقِتَالَ وَعَنْ الْعَبْدِ هَلْ لَهُ فِي الْمَغْنَمِ نَصِيبٌ قَالَ فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ أَمَّا الصِّبْيَانُ فَإِنْ كُنْتَ الْخَضِرَ تَعْرِفُ الْكَافِرَ مِنْ الْمُؤْمِنِ فَاقْتُلْهُمْ وَأَمَّا الْخُمُسُ فَكُنَّا نَقُولُ إِنَّهُ لَنَا فَزَعَمَ قَوْمُنَا أَنَّهُ لَيْسَ لَنَا وَأَمَّا النِّسَاءُ فَقَدْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْرُجُ مَعَهُ بِالنِّسَاءِ فَيُدَاوِينَ الْمَرْضَى وَيَقُمْنَ عَلَى الْجَرْحَى وَلَا يَحْضُرْنَ الْقِتَالَ وَأَمَّا الصَّبِيُّ فَيَنْقَطِعُ عَنْهُ الْيُتْمُ إِذَا احْتَلَمَ وَأَمَّا الْعَبْدُ فَلَيْسَ لَهُ مِنْ الْمَغْنَمِ نَصِيبٌ وَلَكِنَّهُ قَدْ كَانَ يُرْضَخُ لَهُمْ

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: Najdah al-Haroori wrote to Ibn 'Abbas to ask him about killing boys; who the khumus belongs to; when a child is no longer to be regarded as an orphan; whether women accompanied any campaign or took part in fighting; and whether slaves had any share of the booty. Ibn 'Abbas wrote to him (saying): As for boys, if you are al-Khadir and could tell disbelievers apart from believers, then (go ahead) and kill them; as for the khurnus, we used to say that it is for us but our people said that it is not for us; as for women, the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) used to take women with him so they could treat the sick and take care of the wounded, but they did not take part in fighting; as for the child, he is no longer regarded as an orphan when he reaches puberty; as for slaves, they had no share of the booty but they would be given something.
