حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ عَطَاءٍ وَابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخَّرَهَا حَتَّى ذَهَبَ مِنْ اللَّيْلِ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ نَامَ النِّسَاءُ وَالْوِلْدَانُ فَخَرَجَ فَقَالَ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ أَنْ يُصَلُّوهَا هَذِهِ السَّاعَةَ

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) delayed 'Isha' until as much of the night as Allah willed had passed. Then 'Umar said to him; O Messenger of Allah, the women and children have gone to sleep. He came out and said; "Were it not that it would be too difficult for my ummah, I would have enjoined them to pray at this hour."

حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ طَاوُسٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ أُمِرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَسْجُدَ عَلَى سَبْعٍ وَنُهِيَ أَنْ يَكُفَّ شَعَرَهُ وَثِيَابَهُ

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) was commanded to prostrate on seven (parts) and was forbidden to tuck up his hair and garment.

حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ طَاوُسٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ أَمَّا الَّذِي نَهَى عَنْهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يُبَاعَ حَتَّى يُقْبَضَ فَالطَّعَامُ و قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ بِرَأْيِهِ وَلَا أَحْسَبُ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ إِلَّا مِثْلَهُ

It was narrated that Tawoos said: I heard Ibn 'Abbas say: As for what the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) forbade to be sold before possession was taken of it, that is food. And Ibn 'Abbas stated his opinion: I think everything is like that.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ الْجُمَحِيُّ قَالَ ثَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ أَبَانَ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ مُقِيمًا غَيْرَ مُسَافِرٍ سَبْعًا وَثَمَانِيًا

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) prayed in Madinah, when he was a resident and not travelling, seven [rak'ahs] and eight [rak'ahs).

حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ عَوْسَجَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَجُلٌ مَاتَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلَمْ يَتْرُكْ وَارِثًا إِلَّا عَبْدًا هُوَ أَعْتَقَهُ فَأَعْطَاهُ مِيرَاثَهُ

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas: A man died at the time of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH), leaving behind no heir except a slave whom he had already manumitted, so he gave his estate to him.

حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حُنَيْنٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَجِبْتُ مِمَّنْ يَتَقَدَّمُ الشَّهْرَ وَقَدْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا تَصُومُوا حَتَّى تَرَوْهُ أَوْ قَالَ صُومُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas: I am surprised at those who anticipate the month when the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "Do not fast until you see it" or he said "Fast when you see it."

حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْحُوَيْرِثِ سَمِعَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ كُنَّا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَتَى الْغَائِطَ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَدَعَا بِالطَّعَامِ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً فَأُتِيَ بِالطَّعَامِ فَقِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَلَا تَوَضَّأُ قَالَ لَمْ أُصَلِّ فَأَتَوَضَّأَ

It was narrated from Sa'eed bin al-Huwairith, who heard Ibn 'Abbas (say): We were with the Prophet (PBUH) and he went to the outhouse, then he came out and called for food - on one occasion he said: food was brought - and it was said; O Messenger of Allah, aren't you going to do wudoo'l He said: "I am not going to pray such that I needed to do wudoo'."

حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ أَبِي مَعْبَدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ مَا كُنْتُ أَعْرِفُ انْقِضَاءَ صَلَاةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا بِالتَّكْبِيرِ قَالَ عَمْرٌو قُلْتُ لَهُ حَدَّثْتَنِي قَالَ لَا مَا حَدَّثْتُكَ بِهِ

It was narrated from 'Amr, from Ibn Ma'bad, that Ibn 'Abbas said: I only knew that the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH)had ended from the takbeer.

حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ أَبِي مَعْبَدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا يَخْلُوَنَّ رَجُلٌ بِامْرَأَةٍ وَلَا تُسَافِرُ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَّا وَمَعَهَا ذُو مَحْرَمٍ وَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ إِنَّ امْرَأَتِي خَرَجَتْ إِلَى الْحَجِّ وَإِنِّي اكْتَتَبْتُ فِي غَزْوَةِ كَذَا وَكَذَا قَالَ انْطَلِقْ فَاحْجُجْ مَعَ امْرَأَتِكَ

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "No man should be alone with a woman and no woman should travel unless she has a mahram with her." A man came and said: My wife has gone out for Hajj and I have enlisted in such and such a campaign. He said: "Go and do Hajj with your wife."

حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي مُسْلِمٍ خَالِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ سَمِعَ سَعِيدَ بْنَ جُبَيْرٍ يَقُولُ قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ يَوْمُ الْخَمِيسِ وَمَا يَوْمُ الْخَمِيسِ ثُمَّ بَكَى حَتَّى بَلَّ دَمْعُهُ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً دُمُوعُهُ الْحَصَى قُلْنَا يَا أَبَا الْعَبَّاسِ وَمَا يَوْمُ الْخَمِيسِ قَالَ اشْتَدَّ بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَجَعُهُ فَقَالَ ائْتُونِي أَكْتُبْ لَكُمْ كِتَابًا لَا تَضِلُّوا بَعْدَهُ أَبَدًا فَتَنَازَعُوا وَلَا يَنْبَغِي عِنْدَ نَبِيٍّ تَنَازُعٌ فَقَالُوا مَا شَأْنُهُ أَهَجَرَ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ يَعْنِي هَذَى اسْتَفْهِمُوهُ فَذَهَبُوا يُعِيدُونَ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ دَعُونِي فَالَّذِي أَنَا فِيهِ خَيْرٌ مِمَّا تَدْعُونِي إِلَيْهِ وَأَمَرَ بِثَلَاثٍ وَقَالَ سُفْيَانُ مَرَّةً أَوْصَى بِثَلَاثٍ قَالَ أَخْرِجُوا الْمُشْرِكِينَ مِنْ جَزِيرَةِ الْعَرَبِ وَأَجِيزُوا الْوَفْدَ بِنَحْوِ مَا كُنْتُ أُجِيزُهُمْ وَسَكَتَ سَعِيدٌ عَنْ الثَّالِثَةِ فَلَا أَدْرِي أَسَكَتَ عَنْهَا عَمْدًا وَقَالَ مَرَّةً أَوْ نَسِيَهَا و قَالَ سُفْيَانُ مَرَّةً وَإِمَّا أَنْ يَكُونَ تَرَكَهَا أَوْ نَسِيَهَا

Ibn 'Abbas said: Thursday and what a Thursday! Then he wept until his tears wetted the pebbles. We said: O Abu 'Abbas, what about Thursday? He said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) took a turn for the worse, and he said: "Come to me and 1 will write for you a document, so you will not go astray after I am gone." But they argued (about that), and it is not appropriate to argue in the presence of a Prophet. They said: What is the matter with him? Is he delirious?^ Try to find out from him. So they kept repeating that to him, but he said: "Let me be. The state in which I am now is better than that which you want me to do." And he enjoined three things - Sufyan said: He gave instructions to do three things - and said: "Expel the mushrikeen from the Arabian Peninsula, and honour the delegations as I used to do." And Sa'eed did not mention the third thing, and I do not know if he omitted it deliberately, or on another occasion he said that he forgot it. And Sufyan said on one occasion: Either he omitted it or forgot it.

حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ طَاوُسٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ كَانَ النَّاسُ يَنْصَرِفُونَ فِي كُلِّ وَجْهٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَنْفِرُ أَحَدٌ حَتَّى يَكُونَ آخِرُ عَهْدِهِ بِالْبَيْتِ

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas: People used to depart from all points and the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "No one should leave until the last thing he has done is to circumambulate the House."

حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْمِنْهَالِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَدِينَةَ وَهُمْ يُسَلِّفُونَ فِي التَّمْرِ السَّنَتَيْنِ وَالثَّلَاثَ فَقَالَ مَنْ سَلَّفَ فَلْيُسَلِّفْ فِي كَيْلٍ مَعْلُومٍ وَوَزْنٍ مَعْلُومٍ إِلَى أَجَلٍ مَعْلُومٍ

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: When the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) came to Madinah, the people used to pay two or three years in advance for dates. He said: "Whoever pays in advance, let him pay in advance for a specified measure and a specified weight, for a specified time."
