حَدَّثَنَا آدَمُ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مُرَّةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا حَمْزَةَ رَجُلًا مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ قَالَتْ الْأَنْصَارُ إِنَّ لِکُلِّ قَوْمٍ أَتْبَاعًا وَإِنَّا قَدْ اتَّبَعْنَاکَ فَادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ أَتْبَاعَنَا مِنَّا قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ أَتْبَاعَهُمْ مِنْهُمْ قَالَ عَمْرٌو فَذَکَرْتُهُ لِابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَی قَالَ قَدْ زَعَمَ ذَاکَ زَيْدٌ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ أَظُنُّهُ زَيْدَ بْنَ أَرْقَمَ

Narrated Abu Usaid: The Prophet said, "The best of the Ansar's families (homes) are those of Banu An-Najjar and then (those of) Banu `Abdul Ash-hal, then (those of) Banu Al-Harith bin Al-Khazraj and then (those of) Banu Sa`ida; nevertheless, there is good in all the families (houses) of the Ansar." On this, Sa`d (bin Ubada) said, "I see that the Prophet has preferred some people to us." Somebody said (to him), "No, but he has given you superiority to many."

Hadith #17675

حَدَّثَنِا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا غُنْدَرٌ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِکٍ عَنْ أَبِي أُسَيْدٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَيْرُ دُورِ الْأَنْصَارِ بَنُو النَّجَّارِ ثُمَّ بَنُو عَبْدِ الْأَشْهَلِ ثُمَّ بَنُو الْحَارِثِ بْنِ خَزْرَجٍ ثُمَّ بَنُو سَاعِدَةَ وَفِي کُلِّ دُورِ الْأَنْصَارِ خَيْرٌ فَقَالَ سَعْدٌ مَا أَرَی النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا قَدْ فَضَّلَ عَلَيْنَا فَقِيلَ قَدْ فَضَّلَکُمْ عَلَی کَثِيرٍ وَقَالَ عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسًا قَالَ أَبُو أُسَيْدٍ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِهَذَا وَقَالَ سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ

Narrated Abu Usaid: That he heard the Prophet saying, "The best of the Ansar, or the best of the Ansar families (homes) are Banu An-Najjar, Bani `Abdul Ash-hal, Banu Al-Harith and Banu Sai'da."

Hadith #17676

حَدَّثَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ الطَّلْحِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ عَنْ يَحْيَی قَالَ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو أُسَيْدٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ خَيْرُ الْأَنْصَارِ أَوْ قَالَ خَيْرُ دُورِ الْأَنْصَارِ بَنُو النَّجَّارِ وَبَنُو عَبْدِ الْأَشْهَلِ وَبَنُو الْحَارِثِ وَبَنُو سَاعِدَةَ

Narrated Abu Humaid: The Prophet said, "The best of the Ansar families (homes) are the families (homes) of Banu An- Najjar, and then that of Banu `Abdul Ash-hal, and then that of Banu Al-Harith, and then that of Banu Saida; and there is good in all the families (homes) of the Ansar." Sa`d bin 'Ubada followed us and said, "O Abu Usaid ! Don't you see that the Prophet compared the Ansar and made us the last of them in superiority? Then Sa`d met the Prophet and said, "O Allah's Apostle! In comparing the Ansar's families (homes) as to the degree of superiority, you have made us the last of them." Allah's Apostle replied, "Isn't it sufficient that you are regarded amongst the best?"

Hadith #17677

حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ يَحْيَی عَنْ عَبَّاسِ بْنِ سَهْلٍ عَنْ أَبِي حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّ خَيْرَ دُورِ الْأَنْصَارِ دَارُ بَنِي النَّجَّارِ ثُمَّ عَبْدِ الْأَشْهَلِ ثُمَّ دَارُ بَنِي الْحَارِثِ ثُمَّ بَنِي سَاعِدَةَ وَفِي کُلِّ دُورِ الْأَنْصَارِ خَيْرٌ فَلَحِقَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ فَقَالَ أَبَا أُسَيْدٍ أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَيَّرَ الْأَنْصَارَ فَجَعَلَنَا أَخِيرًا فَأَدْرَکَ سَعْدٌ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ خُيِّرَ دُورُ الْأَنْصَارِ فَجُعِلْنَا آخِرًا فَقَالَ أَوَلَيْسَ بِحَسْبِکُمْ أَنْ تَکُونُوا مِنْ الْخِيَارِ

Narrated Usaid bin Hudair: A man from the Ansar said, "O Allah's Apostle! Will you appoint me as you have appointed so-andso?" The Prophet said, "After me you will see others given preference to you; so be patient till you meet me at the Tank (i.e. Lake of Kauthar). (on the Day of Resurrection).

Hadith #17678

حَدَّثَنَي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا غُنْدَرٌ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِکٍ عَنْ أُسَيْدِ بْنِ حُضَيْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَلَا تَسْتَعْمِلُنِي کَمَا اسْتَعْمَلْتَ فُلَانًا قَالَ سَتَلْقَوْنَ بَعْدِي أُثْرَةً فَاصْبِرُوا حَتَّی تَلْقَوْنِي عَلَی الْحَوْضِ

Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet said to the Ansar, "After me you will see others given preference to you; so be patient till you meet me, and your promised place (of meeting) will be the Tank (i.e. Lake of Kauthar).

Hadith #17679

حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا غُنْدَرٌ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ هِشَامٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِکٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِلْأَنْصَارِ إِنَّکُمْ سَتَلْقَوْنَ بَعْدِي أَثَرَةً فَاصْبِرُوا حَتَّی تَلْقَوْنِي وَمَوْعِدُکُمْ الْحَوْضُ

Narrated Yahya bin Sa`id: That he heard Anas bin Malik when he went with him to Al-Walid, saying, "Once the Prophet called the Ansar in order to give them the territory of Bahrain they said, 'No, unless you give to our emigrant brethren a similar share.' On that he said 'If you do not agree to it, then be patient till you meet me, for after me others will be given preference to you."'

Hadith #17680

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ يَحْيَی بْنِ سَعِيدٍ سَمِعَ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِکٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ حِينَ خَرَجَ مَعَهُ إِلَی الْوَلِيدِ قَالَ دَعَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْأَنْصَارَ إِلَی أَنْ يُقْطِعَ لَهُمْ الْبَحْرَيْنِ فَقَالُوا لَا إِلَّا أَنْ تُقْطِعَ لِإِخْوَانِنَا مِنْ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ مِثْلَهَا قَالَ إِمَّا لَا فَاصْبِرُوا حَتَّی تَلْقَوْنِي فَإِنَّهُ سَيُصِيبُکُمْ أَثَرَةٌ البَعْدِي

Narrated Anas bin Malik: Allah's Apostle said, "There is no life except the life of the Hereafter; so, O Allah! Improve the state of the Ansar and the Muhajirun." And Anas added that the Prophet also said, "O Allah! Forgive the Ansar."

Hadith #17681

حَدَّثَنَا آدَمُ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِيَاسٍ مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ قُرَّةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِکٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا عَيْشَ إِلَّا عَيْشُ الْآخِرَةِ فَأَصْلِحْ الْأَنْصَارَ وَالْمُهَاجِرَةَ وَعَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَهُ وَقَالَ فَاغْفِرْ لِلْأَنْصَارِ

Narrated Anas bin Malik: On the day of the battle of the Trench (i.e. Ghazwat-ul-Khandaq) the Ansar used to say, "We are those who have given the pledge of allegiance to Muhammad for Jihad (i.e. holy fighting) as long as we live." The Prophet , replied to them, "O Allah! There is no life except the life of the Hereafter; so please honor the Ansar and the Emigrants."

Hadith #17682

حَدَّثَنَا آدَمُ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ الطَّوِيلِ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِکٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ کَانَتْ الْأَنْصَارُ يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ تَقُولُ نَحْنُ الَّذِينَ بَايَعُوا مُحَمَّدَا عَلَی الْجِهَادِ مَا حَيِينَا أَبَدَا فَأَجَابَهُمْ اللَّهُمَّ لَا عَيْشَ إِلَّا عَيْشُ الْآخِرَهْ فَأَکْرِمْ الْأَنْصَارَ وَالْمُهَاجِرَهْ

Narrated Sahl: Allah's Apostle came to us while we were digging the trench and carrying out the earth on our backs. Allah's Apostle then said, "O Allah ! There is no life except the life of the Hereafter, so please forgive the Emigrants and the Ansar."

Hadith #17683

حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ سَهْلٍ قَالَ جَائَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَنَحْنُ نَحْفِرُ الْخَنْدَقَ وَنَنْقُلُ التُّرَابَ عَلَی أَکْتَادِنَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اللَّهُمَّ لَا عَيْشَ إِلَّا عَيْشُ الْآخِرَهْ فَاغْفِرْ لِلْمُهَاجِرِينَ وَالْأَنْصَارِ

Narrated Abu Huraira: A man came to the Prophet. The Prophet sent a messenger to his wives (to bring something for that man to eat) but they said that they had nothing except water. Then Allah's Apostle said, "Who will take this (person) or entertain him as a guest?" An Ansar man said, "I." So he took him to his wife and said to her, "Entertain generously the guest of Allah's Apostle " She said, "We have got nothing except the meals of my children." He said, "Prepare your meal, light your lamp and let your children sleep if they ask for supper." So she prepared her meal, lighted her lamp and made her children sleep, and then stood up pretending to mend her lamp, but she put it off. Then both of them pretended to be eating, but they really went to bed hungry. In the morning the Ansari went to Allah's Apostle who said, "Tonight Allah laughed or wondered at your action." Then Allah revealed: "But give them (emigrants) preference over themselves even though they were in need of that And whosoever is saved from the covetousness Such are they who will be successful." (59.9)

Hadith #18127

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ لَمَّا کَانَ يَوْمُ حُنَيْنٍ آثَرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَاسًا أَعْطَی الْأَقْرَعَ مِائَةً مِنْ الْإِبِلِ وَأَعْطَی عُيَيْنَةَ مِثْلَ ذَلِکَ وَأَعْطَی نَاسًا فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مَا أُرِيدَ بِهَذِهِ الْقِسْمَةِ وَجْهُ اللَّهِ فَقُلْتُ لَأُخْبِرَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ رَحِمَ اللَّهُ مُوسَی قَدْ أُوذِيَ بِأَکْثَرَ مِنْ هَذَا فَصَبَرَ

Narrated Anas Bin Malik: When it was the day (of the battle) of Hunain, the tributes of Hawazin and Ghatafan and others, along with their animals and offspring (and wives) came to fight against the Prophet The Prophet had with him, ten thousand men and some of the Tulaqa. The companions fled, leaving the Prophet alone. The Prophet then made two calls which were clearly distinguished from each other. He turned right and said, "O the group of Ansar!" They said, "Labbaik, O Allah's Apostle! Rejoice, for we are with you!" Then he turned left and said, "O the group of Ansar!" They said, "Labbaik! O Allah's Apostle! Rejoice, for we are with you!" The Prophet at that time, was riding on a white mule; then he dismounted and said, "I am Allah's Slave and His Apostle." The infidels then were defeated, and on that day the Prophet gained a large amount of booty which he distributed amongst the Muhajirin and the Tulaqa and did not give anything to the Ansar. The Ansar said, "When there is a difficulty, we are called, but the booty is given to other than us." The news reached the Prophet and he gathered them in a leather tent and said, "What is this news reaching me from you, O the group of Ansar?" They kept silent, He added," O the group of Ansar! Won't you be happy that the people take the worldly things and you take Allah's Apostle to your homes reserving him for yourself?" They said, "Yes." Then the Prophet said, "If the people took their way through a valley, and the Ansar took their way through a mountain pass, surely, I would take the Ansar's mountain pass." Hisham said, "O Abu Hamza (i.e. Anas)! Did you witness that? " He replied, "And how could I be absent from him?"

Hadith #18128

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَوْنٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِکٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِکٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ لَمَّا کَانَ يَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ أَقْبَلَتْ هَوَازِنُ وَغَطَفَانُ وَغَيْرُهُمْ بِنَعَمِهِمْ وَذَرَارِيِّهِمْ وَمَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَشَرَةُ آلَافٍ وَمِنْ الطُّلَقَائِ فَأَدْبَرُوا عَنْهُ حَتَّی بَقِيَ وَحْدَهُ فَنَادَی يَوْمَئِذٍ نِدَائَيْنِ لَمْ يَخْلِطْ بَيْنَهُمَا الْتَفَتَ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ فَقَالَ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ قَالُوا لَبَّيْکَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَبْشِرْ نَحْنُ مَعَکَ ثُمَّ الْتَفَتَ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ فَقَالَ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ قَالُوا لَبَّيْکَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَبْشِرْ نَحْنُ مَعَکَ وَهُوَ عَلَی بَغْلَةٍ بَيْضَائَ فَنَزَلَ فَقَالَ أَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولُهُ فَانْهَزَمَ الْمُشْرِکُونَ فَأَصَابَ يَوْمَئِذٍ غَنَائِمَ کَثِيرَةً فَقَسَمَ فِي الْمُهَاجِرِينَ وَالطُّلَقَائِ وَلَمْ يُعْطِ الْأَنْصَارَ شَيْئًا فَقَالَتْ الْأَنْصَارُ إِذَا کَانَتْ شَدِيدَةٌ فَنَحْنُ نُدْعَی وَيُعْطَی الْغَنِيمَةَ غَيْرُنَا فَبَلَغَهُ ذَلِکَ فَجَمَعَهُمْ فِي قُبَّةٍ فَقَالَ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ مَا حَدِيثٌ بَلَغَنِي عَنْکُمْ فَسَکَتُوا فَقَالَ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ أَلَا تَرْضَوْنَ أَنْ يَذْهَبَ النَّاسُ بِالدُّنْيَا وَتَذْهَبُونَ بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ تَحُوزُونَهُ إِلَی بُيُوتِکُمْ قَالُوا بَلَی فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَوْ سَلَکَ النَّاسُ وَادِيًا وَسَلَکَتْ الْأَنْصَارُ شِعْبًا لَأَخَذْتُ شِعْبَ الْأَنْصَارِ وَقَالَ هِشَامٌ قُلْتُ يَا أَبَا حَمْزَةَ وَأَنْتَ شَاهِدٌ ذَاکَ قَالَ وَأَيْنَ أَغِيبُ عَنْهُ

Narrated Ibn `Umar: The Prophet sent a Sariya towards Najd and I was in it, and our share from the booty amounted to twelve camels each, and we were given an additional camel each. So we returned with thirteen camels each.
