و حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سُلَيْمَانَ الْمَخْزُومِيُّ عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ نَحْوَهُ وَلَمْ يَذْکُرْ لَا يَخْلُوَنَّ رَجُلٌ بِامْرَأَةٍ إِلَّا وَمَعَهَا ذُو مَحْرَمٍ

A hadith like this has been narrated by 'Amr on the authority of the same chain of transmitters.

حَدَّثَنِي هَارُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ قَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّ عَلِيًّا الْأَزْدِيَّ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ عَلَّمَهُمْ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ کَانَ إِذَا اسْتَوَی عَلَی بَعِيرِهِ خَارِجًا إِلَی سَفَرٍ کَبَّرَ ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ قَالَ سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا کُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ وَإِنَّا إِلَی رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْأَلُکَ فِي سَفَرِنَا هَذَا الْبِرَّ وَالتَّقْوَی وَمِنْ الْعَمَلِ مَا تَرْضَی اللَّهُمَّ هَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا سَفَرَنَا هَذَا وَاطْوِ عَنَّا بُعْدَهُ اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِکَ مِنْ وَعْثَائِ السَّفَرِ وَکَآبَةِ الْمَنْظَرِ وَسُوئِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ فِي الْمَالِ وَالْأَهْلِ وَإِذَا رَجَعَ قَالَهُنَّ وَزَادَ فِيهِنَّ آيِبُونَ تَائِبُونَ عَابِدُونَ لِرَبِّنَا حَامِدُونَ

Ibn Juraij narrated this hadith with the same chain of transmitters, but he made no mention of it: No person (man) should be alone with a woman except when there is a Mahram with her.

حَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَعِيلُ ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ الْأَحْوَلِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَرْجِسَ قَالَ کَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا سَافَرَ يَتَعَوَّذُ مِنْ وَعْثَائِ السَّفَرِ وَکَآبَةِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ وَالْحَوْرِ بَعْدَ الْکَوْنِ وَدَعْوَةِ الْمَظْلُومِ وَسُوئِ الْمَنْظَرِ فِي الْأَهْلِ وَالْمَالِ

Ibn Umar (Allah be pleased with them) reported that whenever Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) mounted his camel while setting out on a journey, he glorified Allah (uttered Allah-o-Akbar) thrice, and then said: Hallowed is He Who subdued for us this (ride) and we were not ourselves powerful enough to use It as a ride, and we are going to return to our Lord. O Allah, we seek virtue and piety from Thee in this journey of ours and the act which pleaseth Thee. O Allah, lighten this journey of ours, and make its distance easy for us. O Allah, Thou art (our) companion during the journey, and guardian of (our) family. O Allah, I seek refuge with Thee from hardships of the journey, gloominess of the sights, and finding of evil changes in property and family on return. And he (the Holy Prophet) uttered (these words), and made this addition to them: We are returning, repentant, worshipping our Lord. and praising Him.

و حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ يَحْيَی وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ جَمِيعًا عَنْ أَبِي مُعَاوِيَةَ ح و حَدَّثَنِي حَامِدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ کِلَاهُمَا عَنْ عَاصِمٍ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ مِثْلَهُ غَيْرَ أَنَّ فِي حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ الْوَاحِدِ فِي الْمَالِ وَالْأَهْلِ وَفِي رِوَايَةِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَازِمٍ قَالَ يَبْدَأُ بِالْأَهْلِ إِذَا رَجَعَ وَفِي رِوَايَتِهِمَا جَمِيعًا اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِکَ مِنْ وَعْثَائِ السَّفَرِ

Abdullah b. Sarjis (Allah be pleased with him) reported that when Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) set forth on a journey, he sought refuge (with Allah) from the hardships of the travelling, and finding of evil changes on return, and disgrace after honour, and the curse of the oppressed and a gloomy sad scene in family and property.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَکْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ح و حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی وَهُوَ الْقَطَّانُ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ کَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا قَفَلَ مِنْ الْجُيُوشِ أَوْ السَّرَايَا أَوْ الْحَجِّ أَوْ الْعُمْرَةِ إِذَا أَوْفَی عَلَی ثَنِيَّةٍ أَوْ فَدْفَدٍ کَبَّرَ ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ قَالَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيکَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْکُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَی کُلِّ شَيْئٍ قَدِيرٌ آيِبُونَ تَائِبُونَ عَابِدُونَ سَاجِدُونَ لِرَبِّنَا حَامِدُونَ صَدَقَ اللَّهُ وَعْدَهُ وَنَصَرَ عَبْدَهُ وَهَزَمَ الْأَحْزَابَ وَحْدَهُ

A hadlth like this has been narrated on the authority of Asim With the same chain of transmitters except (this difference) that the hadith transmitted by 'Abd al-Wahid (one of the narrators) the (word) property precedes the family, and in the hadith transmitted by Mahammad b. Khazim (the word) family precedes (theword Property ), on returning home, in the narrations of both the narrators (these words are found): O Allah I seek refuge with Thee from the hardships of the journey.

و حَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَعِيلُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُلَيَّةَ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ح و حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْنٌ عَنْ مَالِکٍ ح و حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ رَافِعٍ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي فُدَيْکٍ أَخْبَرَنَا الضَّحَّاکُ کُلُّهُمْ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمِثْلِهِ إِلَّا حَدِيثَ أَيُّوبَ فَإِنَّ فِيهِ التَّکْبِيرَ مَرَّتَيْنِ

Abdullah b. 'Umar reported that whenever Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) came back from the battle or from expeditions or from Hajj or Umra and as he reached the top of the hillock or upon the elevated hard ground, he uttered Allah-o- Akbar thrice, and then said: There is no god but Allah. He is One, there is no partner with Him, His is the sovereignty and His is the praise and He is Potent over everything. (We are) returning, repenting, worshipping, prostrating before our Lord, and we praise Him Allah fulfilled His promise and helped His servant, and routed the confederates alone.

و حَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَعِيلُ ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ عَنْ يَحْيَی بْنِ أَبِي إِسْحَقَ قَالَ قَالَ أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِکٍ أَقْبَلْنَا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَا وَأَبُو طَلْحَةَ وَصَفِيَّةُ رَدِيفَتُهُ عَلَی نَاقَتِهِ حَتَّی إِذَا کُنَّا بِظَهْرِ الْمَدِينَةِ قَالَ آيِبُونَ تَائِبُونَ عَابِدُونَ لِرَبِّنَا حَامِدُونَ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يَقُولُ ذَلِکَ حَتَّی قَدِمْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ

This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Ibn Umar through another chain of transmitters (but with one alteration) that here Allah-o-Akbar is mentioned twice.

و حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَقَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِکٍ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمِثْلِهِ

Anas b. Malik (Allah be pleased with him) reported: I and Abu Talha (both) came back along with Allah's Apostle ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ). Safiyyah (the wife of the Holy Prophet) rode behind him on his camel and as we came to the out- skirts of Medina he said: (We are those) who return, who repent, who worship our Lord, who praise (Him), and he went on uttering this until we entered Medina.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ يَحْيَی قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَی مَالِکٍ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَاخَ بِالْبَطْحَائِ الَّتِي بِذِي الْحُلَيْفَةِ فَصَلَّی بِهَا وَکَانَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِکَ

A hadith like this has been narrated by Anas b. Malik (Allah be pleased with him) through another chain of transmitters.

و حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحِ بْنِ الْمُهَاجِرِ الْمِصْرِيُّ أَخْبَرَنَا اللَّيْثُ ح و حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ عَنْ نَافِعٍ قَالَ کَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ يُنِيخُ بِالْبَطْحَائِ الَّتِي بِذِي الْحُلَيْفَةِ الَّتِي کَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُنِيخُ بِهَا وَيُصَلِّي بِهَا

Abdullah b. 'Umar (Allah be pleased with them) reported that Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) made (his camel) kneel down (i, e. halt at the stony ground of Dhu'l-Hulaifa) and prayed there, and so did Abdullah b. Umar (Allah be pleased with them).

و حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَقَ الْمُسَيَّبِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي أَنَسٌ يَعْنِي أَبَا ضَمْرَةَ عَنْ مُوسَی بْنِ عُقْبَةَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ کَانَ إِذَا صَدَرَ مِنْ الْحَجِّ أَوْ الْعُمْرَةِ أَنَاخَ بِالْبَطْحَائِ الَّتِي بِذِي الْحُلَيْفَةِ الَّتِي کَانَ يُنِيخُ بِهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

Nafi' reported that 'Abdullah b. Umar (Allah be pleased with them) used to halt his camel in the stony ground at Dhu'l-Hulaifa, where Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) used to make a halt (and pray).

و حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَاتِمٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ إِسْمَعِيلَ عَنْ مُوسَی وَهُوَ ابْنُ عُقْبَةَ عَنْ سَالِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُتِيَ فِي مُعَرَّسِهِ بِذِي الْحُلَيْفَةِ فَقِيلَ لَهُ إِنَّکَ بِبَطْحَائَ مُبَارَکَةٍ

Nafi' reported that when 'Abdullah b. 'Umar returned from Hajj or 'Umra he made his camel kneel down (i. e. halted) in the stony ground of Dhu'l-Hulaifa where Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) had made his camel halt.
