حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمٌ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِا ھِشَامٌ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَاقَّتَادَہُ، عَنْ أَبِي انْعَالِیَۃِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍؓ قَالَ: کَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ یَدْعُوْ عِنْدَالْکَرْبِ:((لَا إِلَہَ إِلَّا اللہُ الْعَظِیْمُ الْحَلِیْمُ ، لَا إِلَہَ إِلَّا اللُہ رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَرَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِیْمِ))

Ibn 'Abbas said, "The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, made the following supplication during affliction: 'There is no god but Allah, the Immense, the Forbearing. There is no god but Prophet, the Lord of the heavens and the earth and the Lord of the Immense Throne.'"

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَاللہِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُالْمَلِکِ بْنُ عَمْرِو قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُالْجَلِیْلِ ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مَیْمُوْن قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِيْ عَبْدَالرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِيْ بَکْرَۃَ، أَنّہُ قَالَ لِأَ بِیْہِ ؓ: یَا أَبتِ ! إِنَّيْ أَسْمَعُکَ تَدْعُوْکُلَّ غَدِاۃٍ: ((الَلَّھُمَّ عَافِنِيْ فِيْ بَدَنِیْ، اللَّھُمَّ عَافِنِيْ فِيْ سَمْعِیْ ، اللَّھُمَّ عَافِنِيْ فِيْ بَصَرِیْ، لَا إِلَہَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ))، تُعِیْدُھَا ثَلاثًا حِیْنَ تُمْسِیْ، وَحِیْنَ تُصْبحُ ثَلاثاً، وَ تَقُوْلُ:(( الَلَّھُمَّ إِنَّيْ أَعُوْذُبِکَ مَنَ الْکُفْرِ وَالْفَقْرِ، الَلَّھُمَّ إِنَّيْ أَعُوْذُبِکَ مَنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ، لَا إِلَہَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ))، تُعِیْدُھَا ثلَاثًا حِیْنَ تُمْسِیْ، وَحِیْنَ تُصْبحُ ثَلاثًا، فَقَالَ: نَعَمْ ، یَابُنَيَّ! سَمِعْتُ رَسُوْلَ اللہِ ﷺ یَقُوْلُ بِھِنَّ ، وَأَنَا أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَسْتَنَّ بِسُنَّتِہِ۔قَالَ: وَقَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللہِ ﷺ:((دَعَوَاتُ الْمَکْرُوْبِ: اللَّھُمَّ رَحْمَتَکَ أَرْجُوْ، فَلَا تِلَکنِيْ إِلَی نَفْسِيْ طَرْفَۃَ عَیْنٍ، وَأَصْلِحْ لِيْ شَاٌنِيْ کُلَّکُہ، لَا إِلَہَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ))

'Abdu'r-Rahman ibn Abi Bakra reported that he said to his father, "I heard you making this supplication every morning: 'O Prophet, make me healthy in my body. O Allah, make me healthy in my hearing. O Allah, make me healthy in my sight. There is no god but You.' and repeat it three times in the evening and three times in the morning. You say, 'O Allah, I seek refuge with You from disbelief and poverty. O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the punishment of the grave. There is no god but You,' and you repeat it three times in the evening and three times in the morning." He replied, :Yes, my son. I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say them and I like to follow his sunna."He reported that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "The supplications of the person in distress are: 'O Allah, I hope for our mercy! Do not leave me to myself for the blink of an eye. Put all of my affair in order. There is no god but You.'"

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِالْعَذِیْزِ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُالْمَلکِٔ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ بْنِ عُبَیْدِ اللہِ بْنِ أَبِيْ بَکْرَۃَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِيْ رَاشِدٌ أَبُوْ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللہِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ یَقُوْلُ: کَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ یَقُوْلُ عِنْدَالْکَرْبِ:((لَا إِلَہَ إِلَّا اللہُ الْعَظِیْمُ الْحَلِیْمُ ، لَا إِلَہَ إِلَّا اللہُ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِیْمِ، لَا إِلَہَ إِلَّا اللہُ رَبُّ السَّمَاوَات ِوَرَبُّ الْأَ رْضِ وَرَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْکَرِیْمِ ، اللَّھُمَّ اصْرِفْ شَرَّہُ))

Ibn 'Abbas said, "The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, made the following supplication during affliction: 'There is no god but Allah, the Immense, the Forbearing. There is no god but Prophet, the Lord of the heavens and the earth and the Lord of the Immense Throne.' O Allah, avert its evil."

حَدَّثَنَا مُطَرَّفُ بْنُ عَبْدِاللہِ أَبُو الْمُصْعَبِ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُالرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي الْمَوَالِ، عَنْ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْکَدِرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ؓ قَالَ: کَانَ النَّبِيُّﷺ یُعَلَّمُنَا الْإِِسْتِخَارَۃَ فِي اْلٔاُ مُوْرِ کَالسُّوْرَۃِ مَنَ الْقُرْآن: ((إِذَاھَمَّ أَحَدُکُمْ بِاْلُّا مْرِ فَلْیَرْ کَعْ رَکْعَتَیْنَ ثُمَّ یَقُوْلُ: اللَّھُمَّ إِنَّي ْاَّسْخَیِرُکَ بِعِلْمِکَ ، وَأَسْتَقْدِرُکَ بِقُدْرَتِکَ، وَأَسْأَلُکَ مَنْ فَضْلِکَ الْعَظِیْمِ ،فَإِنَّکَ تَقْدِرُ وَلَا أَقْدِرُ، وَتَعَلَمُ ولَاََ أَعْلَمُ، وَأَنْتَ عَلَّامُ الْغُیُوْبِ۔اللَّھُمَّ إِنْ کُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ ھَذَا الْاٌ مْرَ خَیْرٌ لِيْ دِیْنِیْ، وَمَعَاشِیْ ، وَعَا قِبَۃ اَمْرِیْ۔أَوْ قَالَ: فِيْ عَاجِلِ أَمْرِيْ۔وَآجِلِہِ، فَاقْدُرْہُ لِیْ، وَإِنْ کُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ ھَذَا الْأ مْرَ شَرٌلِيَْفِيْ دِیْنِیْ، وَمَعَاشِیْ، وَعَاقِبَۃِ اَمْرِيْ۔أَوْ قَالَ: عَاجِلِ أَمُرِيْ۔وَآجِلِہِ، فَاصْرِفْہُ عَنَّيْ وَاصْرِ فْنِيْ عَنْہُ، وَاقْدُرْلِيَ الْخَیْرَ حَیْثُ کَانَ، ثُمَّ رَضَّنِیْ ، وَیُسَمَّيْ حَاجَتَہُ))۔

Jabir said, "The Prophet. May Allah bless him and grant him peace, used to teach us the istikhara in matters just as if it was a sura of the Qur'an. He said, 'When someone is concerned about something, he should pray two rak'ats and then say, 'O Allah, I ask You for the good by Your knowledge and I ask You for strength by Your power and I ask You for some of Your immense abundant favour, You have the power and I do not. You know and I do not know. You are the Knower of the Unseen Worlds. O Allah, if You know that this affair is good for me in my deen, my livelihood and the end of my affair (or he said 'in the beginning of my affair') and its conclusion, then avert it from me and avert me from it. Decree for me the good wherever it is and then make me content." Then he should state what he needs.'"

حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَھَیْمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْیَانُ بْنُ حَمْزَۃَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِيْ کَثِیْرُ بْنُ زَیْدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِالرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ کَعْبِ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِاللہِ ؓ یَقُوْلُ : دَعَا رَسُوْلُ اللہِ ﷺ فِيْ ھَذَالْمَسْجِدِ ۔مَسْجِدِ الفْتَعِْ۔ یَوْمَ اِلا ثْٔنَیِن وَیَوْمَ الثُّلاثَاءِ وَیَوْمَ اْلْٔا رْبِعَاءِ، فَاسَّتُجِیْبَ لَہُ بَیْنَ الصَّلَاتَیْنَ مَنْ یَوْمِ اْلَٔا رْبِعَاءَ۔قَالَ جَابِرٌ: وَلَمْ یَنْزِلْ بِيْ أَمْرٌ مُھِمُّ غانِظٌ إِلَّا تَوَخَّیْتُ تِلْکَ السَّاعَۃَ، فَدَعَوْتُ اللہَ فِیْہِ بَیْنَ الصَّلَاتَیْنِ یَوْمَ اْلَٔارْبِعَاءِ فَيْ تِلْکَ السَّاعَۃِ، إِلَّا عَرَفْتُ الْإِِ جَابَۃَّ

Jabir ibn 'Abdullah said, "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, made supplication in this mosque, the Mosque of Victory, on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and it was answered for him between the two prayers on Wednesday," Jabir said, "Whenever anything severe and serious happened to me and I singled out that time and made supplication to Allah concerning it between the two prayers on Wednesday, I found the answer.'"

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيٌّ، عَنْ خَلَفِ بْنِ خَلِیْفَۃَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِيْ حَفْصُ ابْنُ أَخِيْ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ؓ: کُنْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ، فَدَ عَارَجُلٌ فَقَّالَ: یَا بَدِیْعَ السَّمَاوَاتِ! یَا حَيُّ یَا قَیُّوْمُ ! إِنَّيْ أَسْأَلُکَ۔ فَقَالَ ﷺؒ:((أَتَدْرُوْنَ بِمَا دَعَا؟ وَالَّذِيْ نَفْسِيْ بِیَدہِ، دَعَا اللہَ بِاسْمِعِہ الّذِيْ إِذَا دُعِيَ بِہِ أَجَابَ۔))

Anas said, "I was with the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, when a man made supplication, saying, 'O Originator of the heavens! O Living, Self-Subsistent! I ask of You.' He said, 'Do you know by what he has made supplication? By the One in whose hand my soul is, he has asked Allah by the Name that He answers when He is asked by it."

حَدَّثَنَا یَحْیَی بْنُ سُلَیْمَانَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَھْبٍ ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِيْ عَمْرٌو، عَنْ یَزِیْدَ بْنِ أَبِيْ حَبِیْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الْخَیْرِ، أَنَہُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَاللہِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو ؓ قَالَ: قَالَ أَبُوْبَکْرِ ؓ للِنَّبِيَّ ﷺ: عَلَّمْنِيْ دُعَاءً أَدْعُوْبِہِ فَيْ صَلَاتِیْ ، قَّالَ: ((قُلِ : الَلَّھُمَّ إِنَّيْ ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِيْ ظُلْمًا کَثِیْرًا، وَلَا یَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوْبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ ، فَا غْفِرْ لِيْ مِنْ عِنْدِکَٔ مَغْفِرَۃ،ً إِنَّکَ أَنْتَ الْغَفُوْرُ الرَّحِیْمُ))

'Abdullah ibn 'Amr was heard to say, "Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, said to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, 'Teach me a supplication which I can use in my prayer.' He said, 'Say, "O Allah, I have wronged myself greatly. Only You forgive wrong actions. Forgive me with forgiveness directly from you. You are the Ever-Forgiving, Most Merciful."'"

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَیْدٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عِیْسَی بْنُ یُوْنُسَ، عَنِ اْلَٔا عْمَشِ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ثُمَامَۃُ ابْنُ عُقْبَۃَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الْحَارِثَ بْنَ سُوَیْدٍ یَقُوْلُ: قَالَ عَبْدُ اللہِ بْنُ مَسْعُوْدٍ ؓ: إِذَا کَانَ عَلَی أَحَدَکُمْ إِمَامٌ یَخَافُ تَغَطُرُسَہُ أَوْ ظُلْلَمُہ، فَلْیَقُلٍ: اللَّھُمَّ رَبَّ السَّمَاوَاتِ السَّبْعِ ، وَرَبَّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِیْمِ، کُنْ لِيْ جَارًامَنْ فُلَان بْنِ فَّلان، وَأَحْزَابِہِ مِنْ خَلَایِقِکَٔ، أَنْ یَفْرُطَ عَلَيَّ أَحَدٌمَنْھُمْ أَوْ یَطْغَی، عَزَّ جَارُکَٔ، وَجَلَّ ثَنَاؤُکَٔ، وَلَا إِلَہَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ

'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud said, "When there is a ruler in charge of you whose arrogance or injustice is feared, you should say, 'O Allah, Lord of the Seven Heavens and Lord of the Immense Throne, be my Protector against so-and-so, the son of so-and-so, and his followers among Your creatures so that none of them exceeds the bounds towards me or oppresses me. Your protection is mighty and Your praise is great. There is no god but You.'"

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُوْ نُعَیْمِ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا یُوْنُسُ ، عَنِ مِنْھَالِ بْنِ عَمْرٍوقَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا َسعِیْدُ بْنُ جُبَیْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسِؓ قَالَ: إِذَا أَتَیْتَ سُلْطَانًا مَھِیْبًا، تَخَافُ أَنْ یَسْطُوَبِکَ، فَقُل: اللہُ أَکْبَرُ ، اللہُ أَعَزُّ مَنْ خَلْقِہِ جَمَیْعًا، اللہُ أَعَذُّ مِمَّا أَخَافُ وَأَخْزَرُ، وَأَعُوْذُ بِاللہِ الَّزِيْ لَا إِلَہَ إِلَّا ھُوَ۔ الْمُمْسِکُ السَّمَاوَاتِ السَّبْعِ أَنْ یَقَعْنَ عَلَی اْلَٔا رْضِ إِلَّا بِاإِذْنِہِ۔مَنْ شَرَّ عَبْدِکَ فُلَان، وَجُنُوْدِہِ وَأَتْبَاعِہِ وَأَشْیَاعِہِ مِنَ الْجِنَّ وَالْاإِ نْسِ ، اللَّھُمَّ کُنْ جَارَالِيْ مَنْ شَرَّھِمْ ، جَلَّ ثَنَاوُکَٔ، وَعَزَّ جَارُکَ، وَتَبَارَکٔ اسْمُکَٔ، وَلَا إِلَہَ غَیْرُکَٔ۔ثَلاثَ مَرَّاتٍ

Ibn 'Abbas said, "When you go to an awesome ruler and fear that he will attack you, say, 'Allah is greater. Allah is mightier than all His creation and Allah is greater than all that is feared and all that you are wary of. I seek refuge with Allah. There is no god but Him, the One who keeps the seven heavens from falling onto the earth by nothing except His permission, from the evil of your slave so-and-so and his armies and followers and supporters, both among jinn and men. O Allah, be my protector against their evil. Your praise is great and Your protection is immense, Blessed is Your Name. There is no god but You' three times."

حَدَّثَنَا مُوْسَی قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُکَیْنُ بْنُ عَبْدِالْعَزِیْزِ بْنِ قَیْسٍ، أَخْبَرَنِيْ أَبِی، أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسِؓ حَدَّثَہُ قَالَ: مَنْ نَزَلَ بِہِ ھَمٌّ أَوْ اغَمٌّ أَوْکَرْبٔ أوْ خَافَ مِنْ سُلْطَان ، فَدَعَا بِھَوُلَا ءِ اسْتُجِیْبَ لَہُ: أَسْأَلُکَ بِلَا إِلَہَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ السَّبْعِ، وَرَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِیْمِ، وَأَسْأَلُکَ بِلَا إِلَہَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ السَّبْعِ، َورَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْکَرِیْمِ، وَأَسْأَلُکَٔ بِلَا إِلَہَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ السَّبْعِ وَاْلَٔا رْضِیْنَ السَّبْعِ وَمَا فَیْھِنَّ ، إِنَّکَ عَلَی کُلَّ شَيْءٍ قَدِیْرٌ، ثُمَّ سَلِ اللہَ حَاجَتَکَٔ

Ibn 'Abbas said, "Whoever has a worry, sorrow or grief or fears a ruler, should use this supplication and he will be answered. It is: 'I ask You by (the words) "There is no god but You, the Lord of the seven heavens and the Lord of the Immense Throne" and I ask You by (the words) "There is no god but You, the Lord of the seven heavens and the Lord of the Immense Throne" and I ask You by (the words) "There is no god but You, the Lord of the seven heavens and the seven earths and what is in them. You have power over all things.'" Then he should ask for what he needs."

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ أُسَامَۃَ، عَنْ عَلِيَّ بْنِ عَلِيَّ قَالَ:سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْمُتَوَکَّلِ النَّاجِيَّ قَالَ: قَالَ أَبُوْ سَعِیْدِ الْخُدْرِيُّ ؓ ، عَنِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ:((مَا مَنْ مُسْلِمٍ یَدْعُوْ۔لَیْسَ بِیِاثْمٍ وَلَا بِقَطِیْعَۃِ رَحَیمٍ۔إِلَّا أَعْطَاہُ للہُ عَزَّوَجَلَّ إِحْدَی ثَلَاثٍ: إِمَّا أَنْ یُعَجَّلَ لَہُ دَعْوَتَہَ، وَإِمَّاأَنْ یَدَّ خِرَھَالَہُ فِي الّاْ خِرَۃٍ، وَإِمَّا أَنْ یَدْفَعَ عَنْہُ مِنَ السُّوْءِ مَثْلَھَا))، قَالَ: إِذَانُکْثِرُ، قَالَ: ((اللہُ أَکْثَرُ))

Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "No Muslim makes supplication unless he is someone who has cut off his relatives but that he is given one of three things: either his supplication is answered quickly, or it is stored up for him in the Next World, or an evil equal to it is averted from him." It was said, "Then many supplications will be made." He replied, "Allah has more still to give."

حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ شَیْبَۃَ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ أَبِي الْفُدَیْکِ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِيْ عَبْدُاللہِ بْنُ مَوْھَبٍ، عَنْ عَمَّہِ عُبَیْدِاللہِ، عَنْ أَبِيْ ھُرَیْرَۃَ ؓ ، عْنِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ: ((مَا مِنْ مُوْمَنٍ یَنْصِبُ وَجْھَہُ إلَی اللہِ یَسْأَلُہُ مَسْأَلَۃًً، إِلَّا أَعْطَاہُ إِیَّاھَا، إِمَّا عَجَّلَھَا لَہُ فِي الدُّنْیَا ، وَإِمَّا ذَخَرَ ھَا لَہُ فِي اْلَا خِرَۃٍ مَالَمْ یُعَجِلُ)) قَالُوْا: یَارَسُوْلَ اللہِ! وَمَا عَجَلَتُہُ؟ قَالَ: ((یَقُوْلُ :وَ دَعَوْتُ ،وَدَعَوْتُ ، وَلَا أُرَاہُ یُسْتَجَابُ لِيْ))۔

Abu Hurayra reported that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "No believer turns his face to Allah and asks Him for something but that He gives it to him, either by giving it to him sooner in this world or storing it up for him in the Next World, as long as he does not try to make it come quickly." They asked, "Messenger of Allah, what does 'making it come quickly' mean?" He said, "He says, 'I asked and asked and do not think that I will be answered.'"
