حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ أَخْبَرَنِي حَمْزَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ بَيْنَا أَنَا نَائِمٌ أُتِيتُ بِقَدَحِ لَبَنٍ فَشَرِبْتُ مِنْهُ حَتَّی إِنِّي لَأَرَی الرِّيَّ يَخْرُجُ مِنْ أَظْفَارِي ثُمَّ أَعْطَيْتُ فَضْلِي يَعْنِي عُمَرَ قَالُوا فَمَا أَوَّلْتَهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ الْعِلْمَ

Narrated Ibn `Umar: I heard Allah's Apostle saying, "While I was sleeping, I was given a bowl full of milk (in a dream), and I drank of it to my fill until I noticed its wetness coming out of my nails, and then I gave the rest of it to `Umar." They (the people) asked, "What have you interpreted (about the dream)? O Allah's Apostle?" He said, "(It is Religious) knowledge."

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنْ صَالِحٍ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ حَدَّثَنِي حَمْزَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَا أَنَا نَائِمٌ أُتِيتُ بِقَدَحِ لَبَنٍ فَشَرِبْتُ مِنْهُ حَتَّی إِنِّي لَأَرَی الرِّيَّ يَخْرُجُ مِنْ أَطْرَافِي فَأَعْطَيْتُ فَضْلِي عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ فَقَالَ مَنْ حَوْلَهُ فَمَا أَوَّلْتَ ذَلِکَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ الْعِلْمَ

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar: Allah's Apostle said, "While I was sleeping, I was given a bowl full of milk (in the dream) and I drank from it (to my fill) till I noticed its wetness coming out of my limbs. Then I gave the rest of it to `Umar bin Al-Khattab." The persons sitting around him, asked, "What have you interpreted (about the dream) O Allah's Apostle?" He said, "(It is religious) knowledge."

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ صَالِحٍ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو أُمَامَةَ بْنُ سَهْلٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَمَا أَنَا نَائِمٌ رَأَيْتُ النَّاسَ يُعْرَضُونَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَيْهِمْ قُمُصٌ مِنْهَا مَا يَبْلُغُ الثَّدْيَ وَمِنْهَا مَا يَبْلُغُ دُونَ ذَلِکَ وَمَرَّ عَلَيَّ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ وَعَلَيْهِ قَمِيصٌ يَجُرُّهُ قَالُوا مَا أَوَّلْتَهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ الدِّينَ

Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri: Allah's Apostle said, "While I was sleeping, some people were displayed before me (in a dream). They were wearing shirts, some of which were merely covering their breasts, and some a bit longer. Then there passed before me, `Umar bin Al-Khattab wearing a shirt he was dragging it (on the ground behind him.)" They (the people) asked, "What have you interpreted (about the dream) O Allah's Apostle?" He said, "The Religion."

أَبُو أُمَامَةَ بْنُ سَهْلٍ: ← ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، ← صَالِحٍ، ← أَبِي ← يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ← عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ،

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عُفَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ حَدَّثَنِي عُقَيْلٌ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو أُمَامَةَ بْنُ سَهْلٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ بَيْنَا أَنَا نَائِمٌ رَأَيْتُ النَّاسَ عُرِضُوا عَلَيَّ وَعَلَيْهِمْ قُمُصٌ فَمِنْهَا مَا يَبْلُغُ الثَّدْيَ وَمِنْهَا مَا يَبْلُغُ دُونَ ذَلِکَ وَعُرِضَ عَلَيَّ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ وَعَلَيْهِ قَمِيصٌ يَجْتَرُّهُ قَالُوا فَمَا أَوَّلْتَهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ الدِّينَ

Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri: I heard Allah's Apostle saying, "While I was sleeping, I saw (in a dream) the people being displayed before me, wearing shirts, some of which (were so short that it) reached as far as their breasts and some reached below that. Then `Umar bin Al-Khattab was shown to me and he was wearing a shirt which he was dragging (behind him)." They asked. What have you interpreted (about the dream)? O Allah's Apostle?" He said, "The religion."

أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، ← أَبُو أُمَامَةَ بْنُ سَهْلٍ: ← ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، ← عَقِيلٍ، ← اللَّيْثُ ← سَعِيدُ بْنُ عُفَيْرٍ،

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْجُعْفِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا حَرَمِيُّ بْنُ عُمَارَةَ حَدَّثَنَا قُرَّةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ قَالَ قَالَ قَيْسُ بْنُ عُبَادٍ کُنْتُ فِي حَلْقَةٍ فِيهَا سَعْدُ بْنُ مَالِکٍ وَابْنُ عُمَرَ فَمَرَّ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَلَامٍ فَقَالُوا هَذَا رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ إِنَّهُمْ قَالُوا کَذَا وَکَذَا قَالَ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ مَا کَانَ يَنْبَغِي لَهُمْ أَنْ يَقُولُوا مَا لَيْسَ لَهُمْ بِهِ عِلْمٌ إِنَّمَا رَأَيْتُ کَأَنَّمَا عَمُودٌ وُضِعَ فِي رَوْضَةٍ خَضْرَائَ فَنُصِبَ فِيهَا وَفِي رَأْسِهَا عُرْوَةٌ وَفِي أَسْفَلِهَا مِنْصَفٌ وَالْمِنْصَفُ الْوَصِيفُ فَقِيلَ ارْقَهْ فَرَقِيتُهُ حَتَّی أَخَذْتُ بِالْعُرْوَةِ فَقَصَصْتُهَا عَلَی رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَمُوتُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَهُوَ آخِذٌ بِالْعُرْوَةِ الْوُثْقَی

Narrated Qais bin 'Ubada: I was sitting in a gathering in which there was Sa`d bin Malik and Ibn `Umar. `Abdullah bin Salam passed in front of them and they said, "This man is from the people of Paradise." I said to `Abdullah bin Salam, "They said so-and-so." He replied, "Subhan Allah! They ought not to have said things of which they have no knowledge, but I saw (in a dream) that a post was fixed in a green garden. At the top of the post there was a handhold and below it there was a servant. I was asked to climb (the post). So I climbed it till I got hold of the handhold." Then I narrated this dream to Allah's Apostle. Allah's Apostle said, "`Abdullah will die while still holding the firm reliable handhold (i.e., Islam).

مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ← قُرَّةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، ← حَرَمِيُّ بْنُ عُمَارَةَ، ← عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْجُعْفِيُّ،

حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ عَنْ هِشَامٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُرِيتُکِ فِي الْمَنَامِ مَرَّتَيْنِ إِذَا رَجُلٌ يَحْمِلُکِ فِي سَرَقَةٍ مِنْ حَرِيرٍ فَيَقُولُ هَذِهِ امْرَأَتُکَ فَأَکْشِفُهَا فَإِذَا هِيَ أَنْتِ فَأَقُولُ إِنْ يَکُنْ هَذَا مِنْ عِنْدِ اللَّهِ يُمْضِهِ

Narrated `Aisha: Allah's Apostle said (to me), "You were shown to me twice in (my) dream. Behold, a man was carrying you in a silken piece of cloth and said to me, "She is your wife, so uncover her,' and behold, it was you. I would then say (to myself), 'If this is from Allah, then it must happen.' "

عَائِشَةَ ← أَبِيهِ ← هِشَامٍ ← أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ← عُبَيْدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ،

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُرِيتُکِ قَبْلَ أَنْ أَتَزَوَّجَکِ مَرَّتَيْنِ رَأَيْتُ الْمَلَکَ يَحْمِلُکِ فِي سَرَقَةٍ مِنْ حَرِيرٍ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ اکْشِفْ فَکَشَفَ فَإِذَا هِيَ أَنْتِ فَقُلْتُ إِنْ يَکُنْ هَذَا مِنْ عِنْدِ اللَّهِ يُمْضِهِ ثُمَّ أُرِيتُکِ يَحْمِلُکِ فِي سَرَقَةٍ مِنْ حَرِيرٍ فَقُلْتُ اکْشِفْ فَکَشَفَ فَإِذَا هِيَ أَنْتِ فَقُلْتُ إِنْ يَکُ هَذَا مِنْ عِنْدِ اللَّهِ يُمْضِهِ

Narrated `Aisha: Allah's Apostle said to me, "You were shown to me twice (in my dream) before I married you. I saw an angel carrying you in a silken piece of cloth, and I said to him, 'Uncover (her),' and behold, it was you. I said (to myself), 'If this is from Allah, then it must happen.' Then you were shown to me, the angel carrying you in a silken piece of cloth, and I said (to him), 'Uncover (her), and behold, it was you. I said (to myself), 'If this is from Allah, then it must happen.' "

عَائِشَةَ ← أَبِيهِ ← هِشَامٍ ← أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ← مُحَمَّدٍ

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عُفَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ حَدَّثَنِي عُقَيْلٌ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ أَخْبَرَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيَّبِ أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ بُعِثْتُ بِجَوَامِعِ الْکَلِمِ وَنُصِرْتُ بِالرُّعْبِ وَبَيْنَا أَنَا نَائِمٌ أُتِيتُ بِمَفَاتِيحِ خَزَائِنِ الْأَرْضِ فَوُضِعَتْ فِي يَدِي قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد اللَّهِ وَبَلَغَنِي أَنَّ جَوَامِعَ الْکَلِمِ أَنَّ اللَّهَ يَجْمَعُ الْأُمُورَ الْکَثِيرَةَ الَّتِي کَانَتْ تُکْتَبُ فِي الْکُتُبِ قَبْلَهُ فِي الْأَمْرِ الْوَاحِدِ وَالْأَمْرَيْنِ أَوْ نَحْوَ ذَلِکَ

Narrated Abu Huraira: I heard Allah's Apostle saying, "I have been sent with Jawami al-Kalim (i.e., the shortest expression carrying the widest meanings), and I was made victorious with awe (caste into the hearts of the enemy), and while I was sleeping, the keys of the treasures of the earth were brought to me and were put in my hand." Muhammad said, Jawami'-al-Kalim means that Allah expresses in one or two statements or thereabouts the numerous matters that used to be written in the books revealed before (the coming of) the Prophet .

سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، ← ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، ← عَقِيلٍ، ← اللَّيْثُ ← سَعِيدُ بْنُ عُفَيْرٍ،

حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَزْهَرُ عَنْ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ ح و حَدَّثَنِي خَلِيفَةُ حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَوْنٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا قَيْسُ بْنُ عُبَادٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَلَامٍ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ کَأَنِّي فِي رَوْضَةٍ وَوَسَطَ الرَّوْضَةِ عَمُودٌ فِي أَعْلَی الْعَمُودِ عُرْوَةٌ فَقِيلَ لِي ارْقَهْ قُلْتُ لَا أَسْتَطِيعُ فَأَتَانِي وَصِيفٌ فَرَفَعَ ثِيَابِي فَرَقِيتُ فَاسْتَمْسَکْتُ بِالْعُرْوَةِ فَانْتَبَهْتُ وَأَنَا مُسْتَمْسِکٌ بِهَا فَقَصَصْتُهَا عَلَی النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ تِلْکَ الرَّوْضَةُ رَوْضَةُ الْإِسْلَامِ وَذَلِکَ الْعَمُودُ عَمُودُ الْإِسْلَامِ وَتِلْکَ الْعُرْوَةُ عُرْوَةُ الْوُثْقَی لَا تَزَالُ مُسْتَمْسِکًا بِالْإِسْلَامِ حَتَّی تَمُوتَ

Narrated `Abdullah bin Salam: (In a dream) I saw myself in a garden, and there was a pillar in the middle of the garden, and there was a handhold at the top of the pillar. I was asked to climb it. I said, "I cannot." Then a servant came and lifted up my clothes and I climbed (the pillar), and then got hold of the handhold, and I woke up while still holding it. I narrated that to the Prophet who said, "The garden symbolizes the garden of Islam, and the handhold is the firm Islamic handhold which indicates that you will be adhering firmly to Islam until you die."

عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَلَّامٍ ← قَیْسِ بْنِ عَبَّادٍ، ← مُحَمَّدٍ ← ابْنُ عَوْنٍ، ← مُعَاذٌ، ← خَلِيفَةُ، ← ابْنُ عَوْنٍ، ← أَزْهَرُ، ← عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ،

حَدَّثَنَا مُعَلَّی بْنُ أَسَدٍ حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ رَأَيْتُ فِي الْمَنَامِ کَأَنَّ فِي يَدِي سَرَقَةً مِنْ حَرِيرٍ لَا أَهْوِي بِهَا إِلَی مَکَانٍ فِي الْجَنَّةِ إِلَّا طَارَتْ بِي إِلَيْهِ فَقَصَصْتُهَا عَلَی حَفْصَةَ فَقَصَّتْهَا حَفْصَةُ عَلَی النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ إِنَّ أَخَاکِ رَجُلٌ صَالِحٌ أَوْ قَالَ إِنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ رَجُلٌ صَالِحٌ

Narrated Ibn `Umar: I saw in a dream a piece of silken cloth in my hand, and in whatever direction in Paradise I waved it, it flew, carrying me there. I narrated this (dream) to (my sister)

ابْنِ عُمَرَ ← نَافِعٍ ← أَيُّوبَ ← وُهَيْبٌ، ← مُعَلَّی بْنُ أَسَدٍ

فَقَصَّتْهَا حَفْصَةُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ أَخَاكِ رَجُلٌ صَالِحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ رَجُلٌ صَالِحٌ".

Hafsa and she told it to the Prophet who said, (to Hafsa), "Indeed, your brother is a righteous man," or, "Indeed, `Abdullah is a righteous man."

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ صَبَّاحٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ سَمِعْتُ عَوْفًا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سِيرِينَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا اقْتَرَبَ الزَّمَانُ لَمْ تَکَدْ تَکْذِبُ رُؤْيَا الْمُؤْمِنِ وَرُؤْيَا الْمُؤْمِنِ جُزْئٌ مِنْ سِتَّةٍ وَأَرْبَعِينَ جُزْئًا مِنْ النُّبُوَّةِ وَمَا کَانَ مِنْ النُّبُوَّةِ فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَکْذِبُ قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ وَأَنَا أَقُولُ هَذِهِ قَالَ وَکَانَ يُقَالُ الرُّؤْيَا ثَلَاثٌ حَدِيثُ النَّفْسِ وَتَخْوِيفُ الشَّيْطَانِ وَبُشْرَی مِنْ اللَّهِ فَمَنْ رَأَی شَيْئًا يَکْرَهُهُ فَلَا يَقُصَّهُ عَلَی أَحَدٍ وَلْيَقُمْ فَلْيُصَلِّ قَالَ وَکَانَ يُکْرَهُ الْغُلُّ فِي النَّوْمِ وَکَانَ يُعْجِبُهُمْ الْقَيْدُ وَيُقَالُ الْقَيْدُ ثَبَاتٌ فِي الدِّينِ وَرَوَی قَتَادَةُ وَيُونُسُ وَهِشَامٌ وَأَبُو هِلَالٍ عَنْ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَدْرَجَهُ بَعْضُهُمْ کُلَّهُ فِي الْحَدِيثِ وَحَدِيثُ عَوْفٍ أَبْيَنُ وَقَالَ يُونُسُ لَا أَحْسِبُهُ إِلَّا عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْقَيْدِ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد اللَّهِ لَا تَکُونُ الْأَغْلَالُ إِلَّا فِي الْأَعْنَاقِ

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "When the Day of Resurrection approaches, the dreams of a believer will hardly fail to come true, and a dream of a believer is one of forty-six parts of prophetism, and whatever belongs to prothetism can never be false." Muhammad bin Seereen said, "But I say this." He said, "It used to be said, 'There are three types of dreams: The reflection of one's thoughts and experiences one has during wakefulness, what is suggested by Satan to frighten the dreamer, or glad tidings from Allah. So, if someone has a dream which he dislikes, he should not tell it to others, but get up and offer a prayer." He added, "He (Abu Huraira) hated to see a Ghul (i.e., iron collar around his neck in a dream) and people liked to see fetters (on their feet in a dream). The fetters on the feet symbolizes one's constant and firm adherence to religion." And Abu `Abdullah said, "Ghuls (iron collars) are used only for necks."
